Our current project is a full re-fit on a 68' narrow boat. She had been lifted out and gutted before being brought to our workshop. It was originally a live aboard but is being altered into an eight berth holiday boat. She is to be finished in pine boards and trims.
The boat is lifted from where it has been stored onto the back of one of A B Tuckey's trailers ready for being transported to our workshop.
The empty boat with its original spray foam, which has been pressure washed with several chemicals to ensure it is clean. New timber battens are bolted to floor ribs before 18mm plywood is screwed down to create the sub floor.
The roof lining panels have been fitted and the side panel are nearly done.
A new door and frame is made and fitted, Cover strips are glued around the panels and to cover joints in plywood. The panels are then coated with 3 coats of Danish Oil.
The galley units are made and appliances fitted. The tile floor has also been laid throughout the boat.
A porthole liner has been turned and fitted on the side of the boat.
The outside is sanded down in preperation for the painting.
Oxford blue finish is applied, 5 coats in total of primer, undercoat and gloss. The lines and signage still need to be applied.
